Al Bustan Petrol Station Serving the Community

Image
Gouna News had the opportunity to sit down with Mr. Ossama Salah El Deen, the familiar face to motor vehicle owners in El Gouna.  Mr. Ossama is the manager of all four Oil Libya (rebranded now as OLA Energy) petrol stations, yet he is likely the one who will greet you, fill up and collect your payment without you having to leave your car.  Oil Libya is the brand name atop all four stations in El Gouna. This does not mean Oil Libya owns the station, it only means this is the product that is sold at the station. In the case of El Gouna, Mr. Raafat Boulos rents the station from Orascom, and buys refined product from OLA Energy, a company headquartered in Madinet Nasr in Cairo.  The four El Gouna stations are: Main Bustan station, 92 and 95 Octane petrol.   Industrial Road station, diesel.   Abu Tig Marina station, benzine to marine craft only (9am to 4pm) Abydos station, diesel to marine craft only. (8am to 5pm).   You will more likely find Mr. Os...

Red Sea Newcomer Organises Beach Cleanup

Image
Carol King had not been a Red Sea resident for long before deciding she couldn’t sit idly by, when so much needed to be done. Carol saw the rubbish on the beaches, the stray dogs loose between the buildings and in the desert, and wrote to the ministers of the environment and tourism the following letter:  Minister Yasmine Foad. (Minister of the Enviroment) Minister Rania Al Mashat (Minister of Tourism)  I recently invested in a property in the area of Al Ahyaa between Hurghada and El Gouna. This area, I am sure you are aware is an up and coming area for foreign investment and there are many hotels/apartments being built. The area is only 12 km from the famous exclusive area of El Gouna. El Gouna I am sure you are aware is honored to be the first destination in Africa and the Arab Region to receive the Global Green Award in August 2014 and is sponsored by the United Nations Environment Program, this award is handed to cities displaying substantial measures and efforts in...

All in all, 77 doubles matches will be played in 4 days on the clay courts.  These Tennis Tournaments started 5 years ago - always between GSC and El Gouna - for senior players, men and women, gaining more popularity with every passing year.  The tournament will be in honor of the late Martin Valnicek, an avid and popular El Gouna player, who sadly passed away in March 2018.  Spectator attendance to the matches is at no charge and all tennis lovers are welcome to come and enjoy the good weather and the sporting spirit.

El Gouna Names Street After Amr Khalil

Image
El Gouna has named a street leading up to La Maison Bleue after Amr Khalil, who passed away in January.  Amr Khalil was the originator of the concept behind, the Orascom owned, La Maison Bleue boutique hotel. Mr. Khalil went on to manage the five star hotel after it’s construction in 2010. The naming of the street is a fitting tribute to a man who embodied old fashioned high class and left his mark on a Gouna landmark.  Amr Khalil as many of his friends remember him
