Customer Services wishes to advise El Gouna Egyptian Residents that a visiting National Elections Authority committee will be available in El Gouna this Wednesday January 24th, and Friday January 26th only, between 9am and 6pm.  The purpose of this committee is to register any Egyptian currently away from his home governorate (as per his or her ID) to allow him or her to vote in the Red Sea governorate rolls in the upcoming Presidential Elections, scheduled for the 26, 27 and 28th of March.  The committee will be present in the Shahr Eqari Office Downtown, opposite Kan Zaman restaurant. Alternatively this same registration can be performed at any Shahr Eqari Office in Hurghada, if need be. 

CAIRO – 17 January 2018: Orascom Development Egypt (ODE) announced Wednesday that its net sales increased by 87.5 percent to reach LE 1.46 billion in 2017, compared to LE 781 million in 2016, driven by the strong sales momentum in El-Gouna. “We are planning to reduce the debt balance in 2018 by a further LE 800 million to LE 1 billion through the sales of non-core assets and excess cash from operations,” ODE noted in a press release. ODE will continue to seek an optimal balance in sheet structure and will continue its plans to reduce and restructure its debt, according to the press release.

There are changes afoot in the El Gouna Marina restaurant management landscape. Our acclaimed and respected Marlis Sèves is selling her two restaurants Malu’s Deli and Le Garage due to health problems. It is sad to learn of this news and wish Marlis a speedy recovery. In the meantime, the new owners have vowed to keep Marlis’ successful formula untouched.  Gouna News sat down with both owners and can report both restaurants will be in very capable hands. But first, it is fitting to recount Marlis story, her love for El Gouna and the positive impact she had on it, a true inspiration. Marlis Seves opened a boutique, Bollywood, in the marina in 2004. It carried Indian fashion. Marlis sold it 2 years later because of illness. Later in  2005 she created Buzzha beach restaurant at the kiteboarding club. She recalls how in those days it was far out, and there were no buildings around, no water or electricity. It was great and she loved it after having seen something similar in Dub
