The aim of the contest is to raise awareness about the diversity of wild birds in Egypt, their vital role in the ecosystem, and   the threats they face. Instead of shooting wild birds, why don't we shoot timeless photographs with our lenses? We are glad to have received 138 entries taken by 51 contestants in 17 different cities around Egypt! Contestants were able to submit their photos under 4 categories: Bird Portrait, Birds and People, Birds in Conflict, and Creative. Our jury has finally made its call. Meet El Gouna Football Club’s New Coach

Image
Gouna News was fortunate to have found Mr Pedro Barny, the incoming coach for the El Gouna Football Club, sitting at Seventh Star Cafe on the El Gouna marina, and was able to conduct an amiable chat with him.  Coach Pedro, who hails from Portugal, once played stopper for Sporting Lisboa FC, Belenenses and Boavista Football clubs. Now 53 years old he has accepted the position of head coach, training the El Gouna Football Club first team, located at El Bustan in El Gouna.    Pedro was offered this position in December 2019 after the departure of 47 year old coach Nebojsa Milosovic of Serbia. Pedro is no stranger to Egypt, having successfully coached Al Ismaily FC in their 2017-2018 football season, reaching second place, and qualifying for the African Champions League. Today Pedro Barny will be trying to improve El Gouna FC fortunes, in what remains of the 2019-2020 season. They are currently placed twelfth in the Egyptian Premier League standings out of 18 clubs competing.

El Gouna to Cairo by Go Bus, a Positive Experience

Image
For the first time, I took the Bus from El Gouna to Cairo. I rarely need to go to Cairo and for the few times I have, I have used Egyptair Express or accompanied friends who were going by car. This time I went by Go Bus and I must say it met my expectations. I had bought the ticket a few days earlier, at the Go Bus stop, downtown El Gouna, beside the Post Office. I chose the 10 am Elite Plus direct to Cairo. There are approximately 7 departures to Cairo. Each bus is a different class with different prices. The Elite Plus seemed to be the second best judging by the ticket price. I paid EGP 385 one way. Seat selection is done at reservation.  Since I was traveling alone, I chose the single seat side of the bus. Refunds are allowed after purchasing the ticket. Tickets can be purchased online as well (see website below) or call 19567.  VIEW FROM HALFWAY DOWN THE BUS The GoBus was there, on time, at 10am and departed 10:05. Heading north from the El Gou
