Al Bustan Petrol Station Serving the Community

Gouna News had the opportunity to sit down with Mr. Ossama Salah El Deen, the familiar face to motor vehicle owners in El Gouna.

Mr. Ossama is the manager of all four Oil Libya (rebranded now as OLA Energy) petrol stations, yet he is likely the one who will greet you, fill up and collect your payment without you having to leave your car.

Oil Libya is the brand name atop all four stations in El Gouna. This does not mean Oil Libya owns the station, it only means this is the product that is sold at the station. In the case of El Gouna, Mr. Raafat Boulos rents the station from Orascom, and buys refined product from OLA Energy, a company headquartered in Madinet Nasr in Cairo.

The four El Gouna stations are:
  • Main Bustan station, 92 and 95 Octane petrol.
  • Industrial Road station, diesel.
  • Abu Tig Marina station, benzine to marine craft only (9am to 4pm)
  • Abydos station, diesel to marine craft only. (8am to 5pm).

You will more likely find Mr. Ossama at the main Bustan station, since that is where paperwork for all stations is kept.

Mr. Ossama started with Oil Libya in October 2008 when Orascom earmarked a plot of land in Bustan to build the new petrol station. At the time, the petrol station was the Bestway car park downtown. That old station only sold 92 octane petrol.

The new station in Bustan incorporates a car wash on premise. Also a Fit and Fix Tyre Service. They sell and repair tyres. There is no mechanic on hand, but small jobs such as wheel alignment and balancing, battery maintenance can be obtained. In the near future computer diagnostics, air conditioning recharge and brake pad replacement will be added as services.

Future plans for the station include adding a small seated cafe outside with parasols.

The station is theoretically open 24 hours, although on slow weekdays they might close after midnight. Mr. Ossama was saying that on average 10-15 cars enter the station per hour, however this drops to 1 or 2 after 10 pm. Holidays sees a big increase in traffic.

Once a week, a 50 ton tanker will come and refill the two (92 and 95 octane)  45,000 litre underground tanks.

Mr. Ossama mentioned that safety was paramount at his station, and requests drivers switch off the engine while filling up and to refrain from smoking. He enjoys giving this service to El Gouna Residents, hoping he can add more services to lessen residents dependency on Hurghada.
