Many El Gouna residents received appointment notifications by SMS to come down to Hurghada Al Ahyaa district to receive their first jab of the Covid-19 vaccine.  Those who received the notification had previously registered on the Ministry of Health and Population website  that began accepting registrations February 28, 2021.  Priority had been given to workers in the health sector, the elderly and those with pre existing conditions. The web site allows candidates to specify the preferred location of their appointment  Many El Gouna residents were given appointments beginning the week of March 28. In a departure from trend, Gezira Sporting Club (GSC) from Cairo, won the 8th Annual Tennis Doubles Tournament. This tournament is held every year at the Gouna Tennis Club on Mohamed Kamel Street   Previously El Gouna had come out victorious in 6 of their 7 meets. The annual tournament pits El Gouna tennis players against GSC tennis players. The spirit of the tournament is friendly matches over three days, with finals on the fourth day.   The final tally showed Gezira winning 38 matches versus 28 matches won by El Gouna   Cups and Prizes sponsored by many benefactors (see below), are then distributed to winners, organizers and ball boys and girls from El Gouna International School, in a ceremony on the courts   In the evening a farewell dinner was held at Smokery Restaurant in the new Marina  Congratulations to Gezira Sporting Club for their deserved win, and everyone is looking forward to next year when there will be another repeat of this lovely event   Pictures Courtesy of Valeria

For the 8th year running, El Gouna will be the venue for the annual tennis tournament between El Gouna and Gezira Sporting Club (GSC).  The tournament is a doubles tournament open to ladies and gentlemen of all ages, playing in men, women or mixed teams. It is scheduled to run for four days, from the 20th to the 23rd of March at the Gouna Tennis Club in front of TUB and beside the Go Kart racing track. Play starts at 10am. The tournament consists of teams playing in one of seven categories. The top category labeled Shark down to the bottom category labeled Starfish. A separate 7th category is labeled DHL cup to encompass players not competing in the main competition. A total of 66 matches are expected to complete, with a match consisting of one 9 game set. Real Estate Taxes Directorate Red Sea Building Every five years, the Egyptian government conducts a survey of properties in each governorate of the nation. The objective is to update a database that stores all these properties, mainly for property tax purposes.  Property taxes being due once a calendar year.  To this purpose the government has issued reminders in the media of the deadline, for filing properties, owned by individuals and companies, before the deadline of March 31, 2021. This deadline  being a postponement from a previous one on December 31st, 2020.  El Gouna owners, Egyptian or Foreign, are thus required to file their properties at the Real Estate Tax Directorate in el Dahar in Hurghada, before this new deadline.  This filing is distinct from the paying of property taxes and is done at a different location than the property tax office that residents are accustomed to visiting, once a year.
