Russian Tourism Flourishes in Hurghada Despite Flight Ban

October 25, 2019

Despite the Russian ban on direct flights to Hurghada since 2015, the city has occupied a leading position among the best travel destinations for Russian tourists, according to the analysis of the online hotel reservation service analysts Ostrovok.ru for the period from October 30 to November 6, 2019.
Conclusions showed that 60 percent of Russian tourists booked flights to about 15 tourist destinations such as: Warsaw, Berlin, Rome, Vilnius, in addition to Hurghada. The price of the trip was the biggest factor in determining the destination. The average trip of 3.7 days recorded 11, 200 rubles, compared to 55,000 rubles for the 6.8-day trip.
The list of the top 15 tourist destinations was determined by calculating the price of the 3-star hotels booked, with Hurghada hotels bookings worth 1800 rubles per night, Paris 3-star hotels 9900 rubles per night, and those in Barcelona 9500 rubles per night.
A number of Russian travel agencies organize tourist trips to Egyptian resorts in the Red Sea in a number of ways, including scheduled flights on the Egyptair and Aeroflot companies from Moscow to Cairo. Russian tourists are transferred from Cairo either by land or domestic flights to Red Sea resorts.
Some Russians travel to Minsk, the capital of Belarus, which launches flights to Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada and Marsa Alam.
