The Importance of Parrot Fish

I feel sorry for the parrot fishes! Yes this fish can be eaten, but for us divers this is a big No No!!! There are important reasons why we should not eat them and we should educate the fishermen to stop catching these beautiful fish! Please do spare them ... the ocean needs them to regenerate. Read below to be educated. They're lots of fish you can catch in the sea. They can sell and cook the other fish, but leave the parrot fish! Here is why: Parrotfish eat algae and dead coral*. They spend up to 90% of their day nibbling. In other words, they clean the reef. This is important because most of the reefs across the tropics are being smothered by algae because there are not enough parrotfish and other herbivores out there grazing. After all that eating, get this: They poop fine white sand – lots of it! Each parrotfish produces up to 320 kilograms (700 pounds) of sand each year. Rotary Club Breast Cancer Event

Rotary Club of Red Sea - El Gouna will be arranging a Breast Cancer Awareness event in Arabic language at El Gouna Church  on Tuesday 26th November 2019 starting at 7 pm .  Guest speakers will be Dr Wael Maher, Consultant Radiologist, El Gouna Hospital. Free examinations will be performed by Gynecologist Dr Ludmila Ivan.  Early detection of breast cancer is the key to saving lives.

Russian Tourism Flourishes in Hurghada Despite Flight Ban

Al-Masry Al-Youm October 25, 2019 Despite the Russian ban on direct flights to Hurghada since 2015, the city has occupied a leading position among the best travel destinations for Russian tourists, according to the analysis of the online hotel reservation service analysts Ostrovok.ru for the period from October 30 to November 6, 2019. Conclusions showed that 60 percent of Russian tourists booked flights to about 15 tourist destinations such as: Warsaw, Berlin, Rome, Vilnius, in addition to Hurghada. The price of the trip was the biggest factor in determining the destination. The average trip of 3.7 days recorded 11, 200 rubles, compared to 55,000 rubles for the 6.8-day trip. The list of the top 15 tourist destinations was determined by calculating the price of the 3-star hotels booked, with Hurghada hotels bookings worth 1800 rubles per night, Paris 3-star hotels 9900 rubles per night, and those in Barcelona 9500 rubles per night. End Polio Now Event Held in Hurghada

Reporter: Rotary Club of Red Sea - El Gouna Rotary Club of Red Sea - El Gouna and Rotary Club of Hurghada  Cosmopolitan joined Rotary District 2451 Egypt to held an End Polio Now  event on Friday 25th October 2019, at Soho Square in Hurghada City  Center Mall. The event was to highlight the work of Rotary members around the world  to mark historic progress toward a polio-free world while urging the  community to help end the paralyzing disease. Poliomyelitis is a highly infectious disease that most commonly affects  children under the age of 5. Most know it as polio virus. The virus is spread person to person,  typically through contaminated water. It can attack the nervous system,  and in some instances, lead to paralysis. Although there is no cure,  there is a safe and effective vaccine – one which Rotary and our  partners use to immunize over 2.5 billion children worldwide.
