Tournament Organisers  After an exciting and memorable four days of tennis, Gezira Sporting Club from Cairo can be proclaimed the winner of the fifth annual tennis tournament.    It wasn’t until the last match was over and some careful calculations did Gezira pip El Gouna. The score was 33 matches won by El Gouna and 33 matches won by Gezira. Therefore, calculations had to move to the number of games won by each side during the four days. That score was 462 games Gezira 451 games El Gouna. So Gezira can be crowned the winner of the tournament.  It is the first time Gezira wins in five years. Thanks goes to the Tournament Sponsors : Orascom who contributed financially and provided the grounds and staff, Gezira Club who donated the medals, Dunlop who donated all tennis balls,   El Gouna International School who provided the ball boys and ball girls, Metropole Printing, Aqualung Egypt, Alam and Crooners. El Gouna Football Club inches 3 points closer to the Egyptian Premier League having won a 5-0 home win against Al Madina al Monawara, while Aswan and Al Minya both drop points.  El Gouna are now 7 points clear in 1st place with one more month to go! 

The fourth medical convoy organised by the Rotary Club of Red Sea – El Gouna was held on Friday 23rd February 2018 under the auspices of the Red Sea Governor General Ahmed Abdullah. Over 300 patients from the Bedouin communities of the Eastern Desert were examined by volunteer doctors from thirteen specialty areas of medicine. The one-day medical convoy targets patients with the kind help of Sheikh Maari and Sheikh Salama spreading the word to 1500 Bedouin families that live in a 100 square-kilometer radius. 51 Student nurses from Gouna Technical Nursing Institute (GTNI) and Clinical Nursing Instructors set up health assessment stations to record patient’s details and medical history. They also carried out vital signs tests, blood pressure, height and weight, body mass index calculations, and provided health education to the patients as they waited to visit the doctors.  1 in 7 Bedouin children are born with hearing impairment and deafness, so Rotaria

As one surveys the mounting popularity of Egypt’s Red Sea coast, one is encouraged by the increased number of charter airlines adding Hurghada as a destination. The vast majority of these flights bring tourists from Europe directly to the sunny resorts by flying into Hurghada International Airport. This airport serves El Gouna north of Hurghada to Safaga in the south. Airlines such as Pegasus and Turkish from Istanbul, Condor from Munich, Berlin, Hanover,  Dusseldorf, Stuttgart, Leipzig, Hamburg and Frankfurt. TUI from Manchester and Birmingham. Thomas Cook from Glasgow, London and Newcastle, Germania from Rostock, Bremen and Erfurt. Pictures from 2017 Tournament El Gouna resident tennis lovers are gearing up for their fifth annual tournament that pits El Gouna Tennis Club against Cairo’s Gezira Club. The matches will be held on the clay tennis courts at the El Gouna Tennis Club, opposite the TUB, beside the gokart racetrack. The Tennis Club is even getting a facelift for the occasion.  El Gezira tennis players and supporters will be coming from Cairo, primarily in a chartered coach, while a few El Gouna homeowners who reside abroad, will be flying back especially for this exciting contest. In the meantime, resident Gouna players are busy playing amongst themselves every two days to practice their skills at playing doubles, since the tournament is exclusively a doubles and mixed doubles event.  The tournament this year will run between Saturday the 24th and Tuesday the 27th of February and will feature a record 72 players. CAIRO – 03 February 2018: Orlando City SC announced on Friday that they signed the Egyptian defender Amro Tarek from Wadi Degla FC on a one-year loan with an option to buy. Orlando announced the signing through its official website by saying: “We are pleased to welcome Amro on loan. He’s an athletic left-footed center back who will add competition to our defensive group. His familiarity with MLS and hunger to succeed will allow him to transition well into Orlando,” Lions General Manager Niki Budalic said. Orlando City SC are currently 10th in the Eastern conference of the Major League Soccer (MLS). Amro Tarek played for Wadi Degla in 11 matches this season; also he featured for Enppi in 25 matches in the last season. The 25-year-old played for Real Betis in 2016 before he was loaned to Columbus Crew, a club in MLS. He made one appearance with Columbus.
