In Memoriam: Martin Valnicek

El Gouna Tennis club players gathered at the club courts on Friday to remember fellow friend and tennis player Martin Valnicek who sadly passed away the previous Friday, March 30th, as a result of a tragic car accident.  A minute of silence was observed before Martin’s memory was evoked: his charm, smile, superior tennis skills, his love and devotion to his wife and two children. 

Ideas to preserve his memory included making a plaque with his name to place by tennis court. 

Martin’s departure is still a shock for all who knew him. At 38, he was too young to go. The Slovakian had been living for over twelve years in Hurghada, working as a freelance tour guide and diving instructor. 

Martin leaves behind his wife Valli and a young son and daughter.

Native plants  use less water  and  insecticides, feed the local wildlife such as birds, are authentic in their setting, show  sensitivity to the environment  and some are used as medicinal plants.    From earliest times the Ancient Egyptians were renowned for their knowledge of medicinal plants. The Papyrus Ebers, an Egyptian medical papyrus of herbal knowledge (c. 1550 B.C.), compiled about  900  remedies, mostly plants, were being used by physicians.
