Sustainability Camp Closing Ceremony, Friday 26th August at TUB

youthinkgreen is an international youth movement, based in Berlin, which aims at educating and empowering youth to apply local eco-friendly projects to local and global sustainability challenges. 

​youthinkgreen - Egypt has been organizing the Sustainability Summer Camp for youth​, three years in a row now. This year, they organized their Third Sustainability Camp at TU Berlin Campus El-Gouna, with the topic of water sustainability, from the 5th to the 26th of August 2016. 

During the sustainability camp, 40 carefully selected, talented Egyptian participants, from different universities, gathered with noted experts and coaches in the field of Sustainbility and Entrepreneurship to innovate entrepreneurial solutions to Egypt's most pressing challenge: Water. 

On Friday 26th of August, TU Berlin CG Audimax is hosting the closing ceremony for the camp, where participants will pitch their business ideas to the audience and a jury composed of representatives of Egyptian incubators and experts. The event will begin 4pm and end at 8pm.

The event will be open to the public and will host keynote speeches by the camp sponsors and main partners. The camp is sponsored by Cairo University, TU Berlin CG, Orascom HD, TITAN,  Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Nile University and others.

Text and photography by Gabriel Mikhail     I n Egypt’s   Eastern Desert, where Gouna is located,   there is a great variety of indigenous trees and  shrubs which have adapted to this region ’s hot and arid conditions.    Desert gardens  have become fashionable in many hot and arid climates around the world. Native plants  use less water  and  insecticides, feed the local wildlife such as birds, are authentic in their setting, show  sensitivity to the environment  and some are used as medicinal plants.    From earliest times the Ancient Egyptians were renowned for their knowledge of medicinal plants. The Papyrus Ebers, an Egyptian medical papyrus of herbal knowledge (c. 1550 B.C.), compiled about  900  remedies, mostly plants, were being used by physicians.
