District Awards - Rotary Club of Red Sea, El Gouna

On Friday 24th June 2016, the Rotary Clubs of District 2451 Egypt gathered, at the Mena House Hotel, near the Pyramids of Giza in Cairo, for the end of year handover ceremony, for the District Governors and Club Presidents 2015-16 and 2016-17.

It was a great atmosphere with a stage and tables set in the Mena House Hotel gardens and a great opportunity for Rotary members to catch up and plan joint projects together. Members from Rotary Club of Red Sea - El Gouna attended, as this was also the night the district awards were announced, for the 85 Rotary Clubs of Egypt. 

Rotary Club of Red Sea - El Gouna had submitted their work for nine of the ten categories, and were awarded two silver cups for Community Service and Club Administration, three shields for Public Relations, Vocational Projects , and Club History Records, and a Certificate for Environmental Projects. Club President 2015-16 Sherif Abdel Aziz proudly went on stage to receive each award on behalf of the young club that was officially chartered in April 2015. Incoming President 2016-17 Dr Rafeek Ramzy and Incoming Honorary Secretary Laila Aggag also attended, together with Club Founder Dina Nashed.  

The wonderful night was enjoyed by Rotarians from all over Egypt celebrating their great achievements. And now the new Rotary year begins 1st July and the Rotarians will once again begin their great work to serve their communities.

Native plants  use less water  and  insecticides, feed the local wildlife such as birds, are authentic in their setting, show  sensitivity to the environment  and some are used as medicinal plants.    From earliest times the Ancient Egyptians were renowned for their knowledge of medicinal plants. The Papyrus Ebers, an Egyptian medical papyrus of herbal knowledge (c. 1550 B.C.), compiled about  900  remedies, mostly plants, were being used by physicians.
