Work Underway for Downtown to Become Pedestrian Friendly

Downtown Gouna is undergoing a significant public works project aiming to transform it to become more pedestrian friendly. The road in front of Ebeid supermarket will no longer be. The asphalt has been repaved to interlocking stones for comfortable walking and is now closed at both ends to traffic. Moreover, the small parking lot in front of the supermarket is now completely paved. The works are expected to complete by the end of this month. We look forward to update you in a subsequent edition on how the final 'product' will look.

Native plants  use less water  and  insecticides, feed the local wildlife such as birds, are authentic in their setting, show  sensitivity to the environment  and some are used as medicinal plants.    From earliest times the Ancient Egyptians were renowned for their knowledge of medicinal plants. The Papyrus Ebers, an Egyptian medical papyrus of herbal knowledge (c. 1550 B.C.), compiled about  900  remedies, mostly plants, were being used by physicians.
