Students and teachers, starting with early learners, to Primary and Secondary stages of El Gouna International Schools, worked collaboratively together to pack food bags for the holy month of Ramadan. 290 bags were given to Rotary Club of Red Sea - El Gouna for distribution.  Then on Saturday 20th April 2019, Rotarians headed into the Eastern Desert, spending a full day driving to all the settlements near to Kharas El Malky, El Rada, Abu Agira, Delfa, and Wadi Rashid camps to distribute the food bags.  With thanks to the kindness and hard work of El Gouna Schools preparing the bags, which were gratefully received by the Bedouin families. The Rotarians.

On 25 March 2019 three members of the Gouna Owners Club (GOC) Committee had a positive first introductory meeting with the new CEO of El Gouna, Tarek Kamel.  This provided an opportunity to begin discussions about the issues residents face as the El Gouna grows and the plans Orascom has for managing these. In addition to Mr Kamel, El Gouna’s senior management team is to include a Chief Finance Officer, plus a GM to replace Mahmoud El Baroudi, who transfers to a post in Oman at the end of this month.   We wish Mahmoud and his family all the best for their new life in Oman and thank him for all he has achieved here in El Gouna.  The GOC now look ahead to working constructively with the new management to maintain Life As It Should Be here in our El Gouna community. The 20th GOC Social-Get-Together at "The Smokery" in the New Marina on March 23rd  organised by Samia Baladi - a member of the "Gouna Owners Club" comittee -  was a great opportunity to meet other Gounies. In October 2018, Joelle and Philippe, from Belgium, decided to activate their passion for horses and invested in the Yalla Horse Stables, where they were keeping their own two horses, purchasing it outright, making large renovations, and renaming it the Farah Private Stable. As of March 2019, Farrah Stable is open and is offering their services to El Gouna horse owners.  The take over and subsequent refurbishing was conducted in agreement with Orascom, to maintain the harmony with the surroundings, and provide a high end horse boarding with services. Their mission is to provide quality services to El Gouna Owners for their favourite companion. Thanks to the careful planning and tireless efforts of briton Carol King, the previously announced beach cleanup  went ahead Monday March 11 and was a big success.  The beach cleanup targeted a strip of beach just outside El Gouna on municipal land that was littered with plastic, debris and pollutants.  The Environment Ministry in conjunction with Hurghada Municipality provided 30 personnel to assist in the cleanup. Another 10 were provided by the new Aqua Palm Resort and Core Gym.  Two hours of cleanup resulted in two lorries full to the brim with detritus. The volunteers were obliged to stop when they reached an area of beach belonging to the military. In three days this area will be cleared by them. The fishermen in the area off Al Ahyaa have been instructed not to dispose of their waste by dumping overboard for it to wash ashore.
