TEACHING SKILLS FOR THE RESTORATION AND MAINTENANCE OF HISTORICAL BUILDINGS IN EGYPT

Rotary Club of Red Sea - El Gouna, in collaboration with L’Atelier D’Alexadrie, are organizing workshop sessions to prepare and acknowledge pioneers of specialists in the field of fine restoration of historical buildings.

Unfortunately, there is lack of trained professionals in the field of restoration and maintenance of heritage in Egypt, especially the buildings constructed in wood. It is important to achieve an understanding of urban and architecture heritage of Egyptian cities including Red Sea port cities to support further conservation and development strategies including restoration methods.

The first Workshop  ‘The Gypsum and Plaster works (ornaments) of heritage elements’, was held on Sunday, 20th of September 2020 at Senzo Mall. The workshops will continue for three weeks every Sunday and Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Followed by Workshop: “Treatment of antique wooden elements”, starting from 27th of September and duration for three weeks.

Furher professional workshops in different aspects of this subject will follow.
