Concert Hall Set To Transform El Gouna Into Cultural Hub

Mira Maged June 20, 2019 -  EGYPT INDEPENDENT Egypt’s El Gouna will witness a dazzling cultural breakthrough with the inauguration of a 30,000 square-meter concert hall. The project will be headed by renowned British architect Christina Seilern, who is known for partaking in the establishment of the distinguished “Walki-Talki” skyscraper in London, The Times reported. The British architect spoke of her inspirations for the awaited hall, declaring to The Times that she is stirred by the “local topography” and ancient history in Egypt. Seilern, 49, noted that the concert hall will be fenced by a simulated lagoon. The design will encompass Islamic architecture techniques and elements inspired by ancient Egyptian monuments. The project looks forward to attracting legendary orchestras, especially from Berlin. “We took on the project only five months ago and are already moving into the construction phase, so it’s been incredibly fast-paced,” the British architect told The Times. ...

Tourism Workers Demand Re-operating of Hurghada-Sharm Maritime Line

Image
Tourism sector workers in Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh urged Transport Minister Kamel al-Wazir to speed up procedures to re-operate the Hurghada-Sharm el-Sheikh maritime line, suspended for over a year. The workers claim that operating the line would encourage tourist programs between South Sinai, the Red Sea, and Upper Egypt, and would take advantage of development in the port of Hurghada. They called for re-operating the line to become a bridge linking the tourist areas of Sharm el-Sheikh, St. Catherine, Taba, Hurghada and Luxor, as the the line shortens the duration of trips by 90 minutes. Officials of the Red Sea Ports Authority said in a press statement on Monday that a major Arab shipping company requested the line’s operation since several months in order to operate its ferry there. This ferry is undergoing maritime inspection to ensure its safety to conduct trips on the Hurghada-Sharm el-Sheikh line, the officials added. Tourism expert Islam Radwan sai...

Introducing La Playa, Beach, Lounge and Dining

Image
As of last month, El Gouna has a new beach restaurant. LA PLAYA is the brainchild of Achim, a German national who for many years operates the successful Ocean Diva catamaran, twice daily boat trip, out of the Abu Tig Marina. Achim wished to add a new beach to El Gouna and incorporate a restaurant, so he chose the location of the ex Raz/Palma restaurant, by the Club House, on the Kafr lagoon, for this endeavor.  The complete design was done by the Dutch interior architect Sandra el-Barkouki and was fully implemented by Khaled el-Barkouki, together they brought to life a beautiful locale, as seen in the pictures, that doubles as a beach, lounge and a restaurant in the old Kafr. open daily from 9am until midnight. Weekends and holidays until 1am www.laplaya-elgouna.com
