Gouna Owners Club February Meeting Notes

At meetings on Tuesday 5 and 26 February 2019, the Gouna Owners Club (GOC) Committee discussed a number of issues:
  • Safety of low level street lighting
  • Sales Transfer Fees
  • Service Charge increases
  • Painting costs and schedules for apartment blocks and townhouses
  • Access to the golf course pathways for walkers and cyclists
  • Liaison with TUB to assist Masters students with their research
  • Designing a website to provide information to local residents
  • Property Registration
The Committee plans to meet with the new CEO of El Gouna in mid-March to discuss matters of general interest to owners.

In the meantime, our website has been launched www.GOCEgypt.com .  This is very much a work in progress, but non-members can find more information about joining GOC and, for members, there is the up-to-date list of the restaurants and shops which give members an extra 10% discount on presentation of their membership card.

The Committee meets again on Tuesday 19 March 2019. Comments and suggestions from owners are welcome.

El Gouna is graced with a beautiful location on the Red Sea and founders of the town have thankfully incorporated two marinas into its design and expansion.  Gouna News approached Ms. Marta Prusiz, Administrative Assistant Manager at Orascom Marine Management to learn more and we have compiled the following Frequently Asked Questions that Ms. Prusiz gracefully answered.  What are names of the marinas? Text and photography by Gabriel Mikhail     I n Egypt’s   Eastern Desert, where Gouna is located,   there is a great variety of indigenous trees and  shrubs which have adapted to this region ’s hot and arid conditions.    Desert gardens  have become fashionable in many hot and arid climates around the world. Native plants  use less water  and  insecticides, feed the local wildlife such as birds, are authentic in their setting, show  sensitivity to the environment  and some are used as medicinal plants.    From earliest times the Ancient Egyptians were renowned for their knowledge of medicinal plants. The Papyrus Ebers, an Egyptian medical papyrus of herbal knowledge (c. 1550 B.C.), compiled about  900  remedies, mostly plants, were being used by physicians.
