Rotary Tree Planting
Rotary International President 2017-18 Ian Riseley has challenged Rotarians all over the world to plant trees.
Environmental degradation and global climate change are serious threats to everyone, Riseley said. “They are having a disproportionate impact on those who are most vulnerable, those to whom Rotary has the greatest responsibility,” he said. Trees remove carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from the air, which slows global warming.
With 1.2 million Rotarians serving in over 34,000 Clubs worldwide, Rotary Club of Red Sea - El Gouna rose to the challenge. On Friday 2nd March, 820 trees to the value of 5,000 EGP were planted at The Jungle gardens south of Hurghada. Interact Club of Red Sea - El Gouna members (aged 12 - 18 years), family and friends also joined in. A BBQ pool party was held afterwards to celebrate the success of both the recent 4th Medical Convoy and the tree planting project.
