Gouna Owners Club Ramadan Iftar Pictures

On Friday 9 June Gouna Owners Club held their first ever Iftar meal at The Grill Restaurant, Downtown.

Under new ownership, The Grill (formerly The Oriental Grill) prepared a traditional evening meal to break the fast (iftar).

As soon as the sun set, glasses of karkadeh (hibiscus tea) quenched thirsts after the long hot day.  A selection of dips, cold & hot Mezza and salads served with freshly baked bread from their famous Grill ovens were followed by plates of kofta and chicken kebab (shish tawook) with nutritious brown rice with liver.  Rice pudding, apricot fool or syrup drenched pastries (Kunafa) followed for dessert.  All diners declared their appetites well and truly satisfied!

Over 60 owners and guests, representing more than a dozen nationalities enjoyed this most famous of Egyptian traditions. GOC Events Coordinator, Mira Rabith said, “I was so pleased to see so many people enjoying this 10th GOC social and our first iftar meal together.  Our social events give us the chance to catch up with old friends and to make new ones.  We hope they help to make more and more Gounies, whether long term residents or occasional visitors, feel more at home here.”

The Grill offers members of GOC an additional 10% discount (above the 10% given with El Gouna Owners Card).
