The Gouna Owners Club is pleased to invite all owners and long term residents to its 10th social get together for a traditional Egyptian Ramadan Iftar Meal at The Grill Restaurant, El Kafr, El Gouna. We have also invited some of El Gouna's management team to join. 

When : on Friday, 9th June 2017  at 6:45 pm sharp
Price:   EGP 150 per person  

Price includes:
Soaked dry fruits
Soup
A choice of soup Lentil soup or Lesan asfour soup (orzo soup)

Cold mezza
Tahina, Toumeya, Pickled cucumber, Baba Ghanoug and mixed green salad

Hot mezza
Vine leaves, Chicken liver, oriental Sogok, Sambousak Cheese, Sambousak meat and batata harra

Main Course
A choice of Shish Tawouk or Kofta or Shish tawouk and Kofta
Pasta Arabiata or Pasta with mushrooms (Vegetarian)

Text and photography by Gabriel Mikhail     I n Egypt’s   Eastern Desert, where Gouna is located,   there is a great variety of indigenous trees and  shrubs which have adapted to this region ’s hot and arid conditions.    Desert gardens  have become fashionable in many hot and arid climates around the world. Native plants  use less water  and  insecticides, feed the local wildlife such as birds, are authentic in their setting, show  sensitivity to the environment  and some are used as medicinal plants.    From earliest times the Ancient Egyptians were renowned for their knowledge of medicinal plants. The Papyrus Ebers, an Egyptian medical papyrus of herbal knowledge (c. 1550 B.C.), compiled about  900  remedies, mostly plants, were being used by physicians.
